Ethnic enclaves are also known as ethnic neighborhoods. It is a geographically defined space where ethnic cultural identity and economic activity are dominant (Rubenstein). A high concentration of an ethnic group is found there and they are distinct from those in the surrounding area. It is the result of chain migration (Rubenstein). These ethnic enclaves also offer economic support, such as employment opportunities, affordable housing, and loans. For example, Chicago’s ethnic enclaves were dominated by European immigrants in 1950 (Rubenstein).
